Since its inception in 1976, Turkish Cypriot Community Association (TCCA) has been in the forefront of serving Turkish Cypriots residing in the UK through needs led projects. During those early years London already had a well-established Turkish Cypriot community, who by then had become fully involved within the British work force, the establishment of the community centre in Hackney 117 Green Lanes, being a natural step forward. In 1983 TCCA gave the Turkish Cypriot community a voice through the first UK based Turkish newspaper (Toplum Postasi), which is still in circulation today. During the late 80s TCCA initiated a highly successful Information and Advice Project and following that many other smaller one off projects such as a Toy Library and MP surgery. During the 90s TCCA began its most successful project to date Homecare project serving the needs of the most disadvantaged within our community. In The next major change in the organisations activities did not materialise until 2000, when TCCA successfully tendered and acquired its second premises 630 Green Lanes . The second premises allow TCCA the space and resource to develop new innovative needs led project. |
