Police Surgery
The work of the Police surgery has been developing for over a year, in line with the view from the Turkish Community that there was a trust problem related to accessing the police and beyond those language difficulties. In Line with this TCCA in conjunction with Haringey Traders, Haringey Police and Haringey Unity held a Haringey Unity event, this was attended by over 400 people and a questionnaire was circulated to the those in attendance, the results of which pushed towards a surgery operated by two Turkish Speaking police officers (one male – one female) where members of the public can report crime, chase up leads, find out more about options initiatives in-fact talk to the police within a community setting, currently the surgery is operated once every two weeks but plans are a foot to increase this to once a week and also provide service in other boroughs such as Hackney.
Funded by Metropolitan Police and Haringey Safer Communities
