Londra Toplum Postası (Community Post) 2006
Toplum Postası was the first local newspaper that aims to serve the Turkish speaking community in the United Kingdom. Since its establishment, Toplum Postası has continued to grow, and has recently enlarged its distribution area. We now distribute our newspaper into the City Centre and the Northwest of London as well as to the West Midlands, Greater Manchester, and West Yorkshire.
With its own regularly updated website, Toplum Postası has recently been redesigned and improved to make it more effective and efficient. One of the main targets of Toplum Postasis web page is to develop and increase our readership across the globe and also means that our readers can access their favourite writers, news and sport wherever in the world they happen to be. At the last count Toplum Postası had over 80,000 online readers from the UK, 7,500 from the United States and 6,500 from Australia and Canada as well as thousands from countries as far away as Argentina, Brazil and South Africa.
Toplum Postasi has undergone major changes in page design and layout in the last year. With the funds generated from adverts it has been possible to purchase new computers, cameras and improve our technology. We have also introduced a separate sports section and published education supplements throughout the year. Our plans are to develop this to help to improve the educational achievements of Turkish speaking pupils in London.
English Section:
In bid to improve the quality of the English pages and expand it, Toplum Postası has undergone far reaching and radical changes to this section since January 2005 that has seen it grow to 11 pages in order to reach the second generation of Turkish-speakers in Britain. The English section today boasts a new entertainment and music page (with its own top ten singles), a literary review to encourage reading in our community, a film review, a theatre guide, a problem page, a "comment and opinion page" and a new lifestyle page that covers the topics of food, home interiors and travel.
Written by young and bright members of the Turkish-speaking diaspora, the English section aims to cater for a wide range of tastes and a wide rage of ages. Strategically, the English pages are very important for accessing members of the second and third generation of the Turkish speaking community, the majority of who have English as their main language. No doubt the English pages will continue to expand next year.

Toplum Postası
(Community Post)
"Toplum Postasi was set up 20 years ago and from its humble begins now goes to print once a week with circulation in excess of 15000 producing over 70 pages of news, profiles, stories and advertising.
Distribution covers the four corners of London, as well as being postaged to around 200 subsribers who live outside London. Toplum Postasi has seen a mass investment into new technology including the advent of www.toplumpostasi.net, which allows 24 access with advance search ability ensuring constant access to our new, the advent of Broadband the purchase of some of the most advanced Desktop Publishing available .
Toplum Postasi has also been working towards bridging the gap between generations and allowing the paper to be as bi-lingual as possible. Currently around half our articles are in English. Apart from bridging the gap between generations the paper has also worked extensively on development of relations between the statuary agencies, the voluntary sector and the community it serves, suffice to say that Toplum Postasi now enjoys an extremely fruitful relationship with all its partners. Furthermore with the development of new projects within TCCA we have seen the use of Toplum Postasi as a mechanism in circulation of information targeted at the Turkish Speaking community.
Our policy of youth development has also been active and over the post 12 months we have managed seven school-college placements.
We feel that 2003-04 has provided the structure the newspaper needs in order to ultimately achieve the development of high quality, unbiased news and information for the Turkish Speaking community living in the UK."
